July
24th :
The band is continuing
to refine their songs in preparation
for their August show date. The band
has come up with a tentative set list:
War
Backbreaker
Wicked
Phoenix*
Batman*
*Yet to be performed
as Canto III
July 10th :
With Canto III's
next show still more than a month away,
they have been concentrating on writing
additional music and revamping old favorites.
The band has decided that newly rejuvinated
Batman is now ready to be performed
and the band hopes to unveil it at their
upcoming show. In addition, the previously
gallopping riffs of Phoenix
have been altered and updated, the band
choosing to take a more straight-forward,
hard rock approach to the song. Phoenix
also has a chance of making its way
onto Canto III's next setlist.
July
7th :
It is official,
Canto III will be playing their next
show at BB
King's at Universal City Walk on
August 13th. As with previous shows,
cover is $10 at the door and all ages
before 10:00. The band is scheduled
to go on at 8:30, so get there, be early,
and have a drink.
June 25th:
The show that the
band was scheduled to play at the Derby
was cancelled due to problems with the
venue. We hope to see everyone at our
next show.
June
15th:
Canto III is scheduled
for another show, June 26th at 10:30
at the Derby
in Hollywood. The cover is $12, or $10
with a flyer,
which you may print out from the link
or ask one of the band members for one.
The band is excited to be playing a
different venue and hopes to see you
there.
June 13th:
We have added a
few pics from the show, courtesy of
Stef, a friend of Paul's. Check
'em out.
June 7th:
The band felt pretty
good after their show last night. The
crowd was into it and they were treated
to an intense show. Canto III played
an old song they hadn't played for a
while, Anymore, and covered
Black Sabbath's Paranoid in
honor of the special date (6/6/6). The
band would like to thank the "Usual
Suspects" and all others who showed
up to see them last night.
May24th:
Canto III has been
booked to make their second appearance
at BB
Kings on June 6, 2006 (yes, 6/6/6).
They are scheduled to go on at 8:30,
so show up and take people with you.
May 21th:
The band felt very
good following their performance this
past Wednesday at BB Kings. They played
a late show to mainly a group of their
die-hard fans. Although heavily inebriated,
the crowd enjoyed the show and were
into the set. If you weren't able to
make it, the band may have another show
on the horizon, so stay tuned.

Canto III
in Universal City, CA, 5.17.06
May 11th:
Canto III has been
booked to play at BB Kings in Universal
City, CA at the Universal City Walk.
They will be closing the show and are
scheduled to go on at midnight. The
band is looking forward to the experience
and ask you to please come out and support
them. Here are the directions
to City Walk.
April 28th:
This evening, Canto
III went over some of their old material,
seeing what are viable, recordable songs,
and which should be forgotten. For having
not played much of the material in several
months, the band was sharp and showed
little signs of rust . . . we will have
to wait and see what comes of this session.
The band will be taking a week off to
relax and take care of some band-related,
non-musical business.
April 21st:
The band completed
a grueling recording session today,
finishing
the remaining two songs they sought
to put out on their demo. Both Choice
and One in G were layed down,
and the band was left with a fairly
positive feel towards both of the tunes.
While their focus has been primarily
on working on new material, in the following
weeks the band will be pulling some
music out from their old catalog, polishing
it up and recording.
April 14th:
As
the recording process continued (although
now with some upgraded recording equipment)
the band layed down War.
The band seemed relatively pleased with
the feel of their performances and are
optimistic that the final product will
convey the same energy.
April 9th:
The
band went through a very brief practice.
Randy had landed just a few hours prior,
coming from Brownsville, TX, where members
of his East
L.A. Barrios guitar ensemble
took part in a competition of young
musicians. Canto III prepped for their
recording the following week.
April 2nd :
Canto III had their first
live performance in almost five years,
and the band came away with a great
deal of thoughts and ideas to build
upon. The band is looking to rectify
the concerns that arose from their show
and hope to be playing additional shows
continue the positive vibe they felt
this weekend.
March
26th :
With
a weathered drummer just getting back
from a trip to Nor Cal, the band continued
to prepare for their performance next
week. The band is anxious to play in
front of an audience again, but is feeling
nervous about unveiling new material.
Canto III plans to have one more rehearsal
prior to the show.
March
19th :
A few
songs that had been trouble spots, began
to come together this week. Both Choice
and The One in G sounded great.
Due to the improvement on those songs
and their sound in general, the band
will be hosting a small listening party
on the 2nd of April. Please contact
one of the band members if you would
like to attend.
